Floating Solo Film screening is a screening evening at Tempel Amsterdam in June 2025. The evening is cen-

tered around a 15 minute film called Floating Solo directed by  Elin Visser, her first short film.

The film tells the story of a woman who undergoes an abortion - a visual poem with an intimate

monologue, expressing the physical and emotional change while making the decision to end her

pregnancy.

The evening will be filled with works of three other artists. There will be a dance performance by

choreographer and dancer Sarah Zechut and Tatiana Spiewak, a soundscape by studio Øraya and spo-

ken word by Mystha Mandersloot. The evening aims to foster collectivity and openness through

transdisciplinary explorations around this theme. Together with these three artists.

Rooted in Elin’s experience and that of many more women around her, the screening

evening examines how experiences - individually and shared - are held quiet

and preserved by society forces.

Abortion has been a prominent political topic in the media for years, but Elin believes there’s still

more to be said. Her aim is to give a stage to her first film Floating Solo that she financed herself.

By connecting her work with fellow artists working on similar subjects, Floating Solo serves as a

conversation starter. It reveals the emotional and physical impact of abortion, the aftermath, and

the journey a woman undergoes through grief and bodily transformation. Through this evening her

aim is to engage with other experiences as well, by sharing her individual experience - opening

conversations that highlight the myriad of emotions.
