Ksenia Perek and Tempel are thrilled to announce the first solo exhibition of performance artist Ksenia Perek in the Netherlands. +18 -∞ (plus eighteen minus forever) Is a multi-video work developed under the Stipendium by Amsterdam Fonds voor De Kunst in 2024, which serves as Perek’s video manifesto. Through a selection of video artworks, Perek explores and transgresses themes of artistic identity in relation to the economy of the White Cube, personal reflections on post-feminist and queer thought, and the dynamic interplay between the spectator and the act of performance. In this visually complex and explorative body of work, Perek assumes the role of a dissident poet. The videos, anchored in text (subtitled), engage deeply with post-production techniques. Viewers are invited into the artist's inner monologue— an at times vulgar, sarcastic, and painfully honest imaginative construct, presented as a fictional diary.

“Current art landscape is palliative, like a migraine that lacks any coherent logic and thus fuels our anxiety. Artists are the unappreciated working class. We carry all the necessary modes of production, yet we are the bottom of the industry’s food chain. We want to work, but there is not enough work for everyone. Inequity by definition leading to a cultural decimation of content. It is time for us to become Punks.” – artist writing, 2024″
